King Charles expresses sympathy to typhoon, earthquake victims in Philippines

MANILA, Philippines — King Charles III has expressed his sympathy to Filipinos following the recent typhoons, floods and earthquakes that devastated parts of the country.
In a statement posted by the UK’s Embassy on Tuesday, November 11, Charles said he and Queen Camilla were “deeply concerned” by the series of natural disasters that have struck the Philippines in recent weeks and “profoundly saddened” by the loss of lives.
“My wife and I have been deeply concerned by the news of the typhoons and floods that have affected the Philippines in recent weeks and are profoundly saddened to hear of further loss of life,” King Charles said.
“I am well aware that the suffering has been compounded by the devastating effects of two earthquakes in October and our hearts go out to all those who are so cruelly affected by these catastrophic natural disasters,” he added.
Charles also extended his “deepest and most heartfelt sympathy” to the families of the victims and commended the courage and dedication of emergency responders who continued rescue and relief operations despite suffering their own losses.
“Our thoughts and continued prayers are with all who are enduring such appalling suffering at this time,” he added.
