Women top PMA entrance exams

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Young women took the top spots in this year’s nationwide entrance examinations at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA).
Leading the list of 1,436 successful examinees is Amanda Isabel Guzman from the Philippine Science High School in the Bicol Region.
A total of 24,671 examinees qualified out of 33,640 online applicants who took the exam between July and September in 48 testing centers across the country.
Of those qualified, a total of 1,436 passed, giving a 5.82 percent passing rate, which is an increase from last year’s 5.02 percent.
The top three passers are all young women. Guzman is joined by Gwen Kyla Phalashol from Philippine Science High School - Central Mindanao Campus at number two, and Aafia Khim Alzeynaah Lomondaya from Albert Einstein School Inc. who is number three on the ranked list.
The successful examinees now move on to the next phase, a strict selection process that includes medical, physical and psychological evaluations.
The PMA continues to look for people who are not only smart, but also fit, disciplined and ready to lead.
Only those who pass all stages will be accepted into the PMA Class of 2030, which will begin training in May 2026.
Candidates come from all over the country, with strong representation from Metro Manila, Cordillera, Region 4-A, Region 2 and Region 10.
The PMA also released the names of the Top 10 passers, including students from top science high schools and respected private institutions.
