Akbayan lawmakers release SALN to public
MANILA, Philippines — Three lawmakers from the progressive Akbayan party-list group have made public their Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALNs), hoping that other congressmen would follow suit, amid lifestyle checks on all state officials ordered by President Marcos.
“We respectfully call on fellow lawmakers – especially House colleagues – to join us in this effort. Let us take this crucial step together to rebuild people’s trust and strengthen democracy,” Akbayan said.
Dinagat Islands Rep. Arlene Bag-ao joined the initiative of Akbayan party-list Reps. Chel Diokno, Percival Cendaña and Dadah Ismula.
“At a time when trust in government is at its lowest, words are not enough. We, as public servants, must show through concrete action that transparency and accountability are more than promises – they are obligations,” they said.
The lawmakers have assured the public that the posting of their SALNs will be a “regular” practice.
Bag-ao declared P15 million in total assets, followed by Diokno with P13.1 million, Ismula with P3.2 million and Cendaña with P1 million.
