Rodriguez faces disbarment case over memoir

MANILA, Philippines — Former executive secretary Vic Rodriguez is facing a disbarment complaint for alleged breach of confidentiality over his book revealing his experiences during the 2022 campaign of President Marcos and the first few months of the administration.
The disbarment complaint was filed by Jason Binay Suarez, who claimed Rodriguez’s disclosures in his book “Kingmaker” breached confidentiality requirements.
Suarez, nephew of former vice president Jejomar Binay, alleged that Rodriguez violated the Code of Professional Responsibility and Accountability and undermined public trust in the legal profession.
“For me, his revelations – true or not – are not just stories but deliberate moves tied to personal interests and political ambitions,” Suarez said.
“These actions, which are prohibited by the Code of Professional Responsibility and Accountability, are a wrong use of the trust given by the client,” he added.
Responding to Suarez, Rodriguez said the complaint was a “desperate attempt” to silence him for being vocal about corruption, anomalies, political persecution, abuses and waste of public funds, especially for flood control, under the Marcos administration.
