China should notify Philippines in advance about rocket tests — Marcos
BENGALURU, India — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was not alarmed by the recent Chinese rocket debris landing in Philippine waters but asked that Beijing notify Manila in advance.
Marcos said this was not the first time such an incident occurred and that he saw no violations by China.
“I remember during my trip to Beijing early on, I told President Xi, ‘We have no interest in your rockets. Just tell us where they will land, we will collect them and return them to you.’ That continues to be my offer to China,” Marcos told the media in an interview.
The president said Beijing only needs to inform Manila about the rocket’s trajectory.
Pieces of a Chinese rocket fell into Philippine waters on August 4 following a test launch.
The Department of Foreign Affairs expressed concern over the incident.
