Pinay caregiver dies after Iran missile attack

MANILA, Philippines — A Filipina caregiver in Israel died yesterday following an Iranian missile attack last month.
The Philippine embassy in Israel announced the death of Leah Mosquera, 49, from Negros Occidental.
“It is with deep sorrow that the Philippine embassy in Israel announces that the Filipina caregiver died due to severe injuries she sustained when an Iranian missile struck her Rehovot apartment on June 15,” the embassy said.
After the attack, Mosquera was rushed to Shamir Medical Center where she underwent multiple surgeries. She fought for her life at the intensive care unit for several weeks.
“During this time, she was cared for by her sister Joy, who also works in Israel. Joy shared the sad news of her sister’s passing and consented to the release of the information to the public,” the embassy said.
“The embassy expresses its deepest gratitude to her and extends heartfelt condolences to the Mosquera family in the Philippines,” it added.
The Philippine embassy in Israel is working on repatriation arrangements for Mosquera, and has promised “the provision of all necessary assistance.” — AFP
