Pope Leo, 100 Filipino priests to meet in Rome

MANILA, Philippines — Pope Leo XIV is scheduled to meet on June 12 with some 100 Filipino priests, as well as those from other countries who are currently assigned in Rome.
According to CBCPNews, Pope Leo will hold his first meeting with all the priests in Rome at 10 a.m. at the Vatican’s Paul VI Hall.
The gathering will be the pope’s first official encounter with the priests currently living in the Diocese of Rome since he was elected to the papacy last May 8.
Rev. Gregory Ramon Gaston, rector of the Pontificio Collegio Filippino, said among those expected to attend are Filipino priests currently pursuing further studies in theology, philosophy, canon law and other ecclesiastical fields.
He estimated that there are about 100 Filipino priests in Rome.
“Actually, we’re very excited because we will finally have an audience with the Holy Father, Pope Leo,” Gaston told Radyo Veritas.
