Rains to continue through weekend
MANILA, Philippines — Rains will continue over the weekend due to the shear line and intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
Moderate to heavy rains are forecast over Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Davao Oriental.
The ITCZ will bring scattered rains over Mindanao, the Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, Leyte, Southern Leyte and Palawan.
The northeast monsoon is bringing cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region. The Ilocos Region may see isolated light rains due to the monsoon.
Localized thunderstorms will bring isolated rains over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
Meanwhile, temperatures dropped to a chill 22.8 degrees Celsius at the Science Garden monitoring station on Christmas Day.
This was the lowest recorded temperature in Metro Manila for the month.
The lowest temperature in December was recorded in La Trinidad as it dropped to 13.7 degrees Celsius.
