MANILA, Philippines — Soldiers’ subsistence allowance has been increased to P350 from P150.
Speaker Martin Romualdez on Wednesday told Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Romeo Brawner that the bicameral conference committee approved the increase.
Romualdez posted on X, formerly Twitter, his phone conversation with Brawner.
“Please convey to the AFP, to our men in uniform that as we committed, the subsistence daily allowance from P150 to P350 has not only been approved but is being signed right now,” Romualdez told Brawner.
“Regardless of whatever doubts that they heard, that is all fake news,” he said. “The President will sign it into law. That is as good as gold.”
The military is a priority of the House of Representatives, Romualdez said.
“I just want to allay any fears that there was anything other than what we have committed in Zambales to you and the troops,” he noted.
Romualdez promised to see Brawner and the troops today at Camp Aguinaldo.
“This is a good gift for the soldiers,” Brawner said.
“More will be coming. We have more for next year,” Romualdez said.
