MANILA, Philippines — The shear line will continue to bring rains in the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda said the shear line brought heavy to intense rains in Quezon yesterday, adding that moderate to heavy rains were experienced in Isabela, Aurora, Laguna, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Marinduque, portions of Romblon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Catanduanes.
“Throughout this day (Monday), the number of areas affected in Southern Luzon will be lessened, but the areas in east Luzon continue to experience heavy rains,” Castañeda said.
According to PAGASA, a shear line is the convergence of cold and warm winds, which triggers rains.
“Tomorrow (Tuesday), moderate to heavy rains will be experienced in Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora and Isabela. By Wednesday, moderate to heavy rains will be experienced in Cagayan and portions of Isabela,” she added.
Meanwhile, Castañeda said that aside from the shear line, the northeast monsoon will affect the rest of Luzon.
“The northeast monsoon will bring cold weather for the rest of Luzon and rains in Northern Luzon,” she said.
Castañeda said that no low-pressure area or typhoon is being monitored that could affect the country in the next few days.
“Shear line will continue to bring rains especially in the eastern part of Northern Luzon and Central Luzon,” she added.
