MANILA, Philippines -- The San Miguel Beermen completely obliterated the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings by 49 points, 131-82, in a historic PBA Governors' Cup win Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum that also secured them a seat in the quarterfinals.

The Beermen had more than the historic night of Marcio Lassiter to celebrate, as they also had the biggest win margin in San Miguel’s franchise history.

June Mar Fajardo powered his way inside with 24 points, 17 rebounds, a steal and a block to go with a whopping +- of +46.

CJ Perez had 22 points, while Lassiter had 18 markers on 6-of-8 shooting from deep.

A 3-pointer by Scottie Thompson to begin hostilities was the Gin Kings’ only lead in the game, as the Beermen were anchored by the hot shooting of Lassiter to grab a huge 37-11 lead in the first quarter.

Lassiter broke the record of Jimmy Alapag for most 3-pointers in PBA history.

The torrid offensive performance of the Beermen continued on throughout the game, as they continued to pounce on the Gin Kings from both inside and outside.

In total, San Miguel shot a scorching 52-of-88 from the field, good for 59.1%. They also made 13 of their 23 3-point attempts.

On the other hand, Ginebra made just 30 of their 82 field goal attempts for 36.6%.

The victors also had 58 rebounds compared to Ginebra’s 33 boards.

According to PBA chief statistician Fidel Mangonon III, it is the biggest losing margin in the franchise history of Ginebra, as well as Coach Tim Cone’s biggest losing margin ever.

Terrence Romero produced 14 points in 21 minutes off the bench for San Miguel, while import Jordan Adams had 12 markers and 11 boards. Don Trollano added 11.

RJ Abarrientos paced the Gin Kings with 19 points in 26 minutes. Justin Brownlee and JApeth Aguilar chipped in 16 and 15, respectively.

The Beermen are now on top of Group B with a 6-2 record. Ginebra dropped to third place with a 5-3 slate.
