MANILA, Philippines — UAAP girls champion Adamson cemented its status as the best high school team in the country by ruling the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball Invitational League (GVIL) with a 25-20, 25-5, 25-22 finale win over Bacolod Tay Tung yesterday at the Adamson Gym in Manila.

Ranged against the Palarong Pambansa title holder, the Lady Baby Falcons were unmoved and unruffled, imposing their game and scoring the clincher in 70 minutes for yet another perfect championship feat.

The Lady Baby Falcons won all their six games with little to no resistance, duplicating their wipeout of their UAAP Season 86 assignments (14-0) for the school’s first girls’ volleyball title in history.

In the GVIL against fellow UAAP and NCAA squads as well as unheralded bets from the provinces, the Lady Baby Falcons were not to be denied.

Lhouriz Tuddao showed the way in the finale with 11 points as UAAP MVP Shaina Nitura and Abegail Segui chipped in 10 points apiece, Mary Ann del Moral tossed in seven while Samantha Cantada and Felicity Sagaysay contributed six each.

“Sinabi ko sa kanila na ang mindset nila i-renew when in doubt sila sa mga ginagawa nila. Sabi ko you must put in the right mindset so that magiging maayos ang flow nang ginagalaw niyo,” said coach JP Yude, also the mentor of the Lady Falcons in the UAAP.

No player scored in double figures for the Thunderbolts, who nonetheless surpassed their bronze-medal finish last season. Rhose Alemendralejo had seven while Palarong Pambansa MVP Jothea Ramos logged in five.

Meanwhile, Kings’ Montessori School pulled the rug from under UAAP runner-up National University-Nazareth School, 25-18, 24-26, 25-23, 25-22, to claim the bronze medal.

Shekaina Lleses fired 28 points, including nine in the fourth set as KMS denied NUNS another podium finish.
