MANILA, Philippines — Fireworks-related injuries (FWRI) nationwide have jumped to 12 as the New Year celebrations approach, the Department of Health (DOH) reported yesterday.

Among the new cases, the DOH said, are two boys aged 11 and 17 years who used illegal fireworks piccolo and boga.

The new cases include a 49-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man who both used kwitis, a legal firework, at their homes.

To avoid a rise in FWRIs, the DOH encouraged the public to just watch community fireworks displays. — Cecille Suerte Felipe
