MANILA, Philippines — Senators led the topping-off ceremony at the new Senate Building in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig on Thursday.

The Senate plans to partially open the building and conduct the resumption of session there in July 2024.

The new Senate Building is more energy efficient as it was built to consume 30 to 50 percent less energy than standard buildings, according to Sen. Nancy Binay.

“In the face of climate change, the government should walk the talk in promoting the use of sustainable structures,” Binay said.

Among those who joined the ceremony are Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda, Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva, and Senators Nancy Binay, Cynthia Villar, JV Ejercito, Ronald dela Rosa and Bong Go.

Former Senate president Vicente Sotto III and former senator Ralph Recto, Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan, Bases Conversion and Development Authority Chairperson Delfin Lorenzana and Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano also attended the event.
