MANILA, Philippines — A majority of the Filipino people were impressed by the performance of President Marcos in his first 100 days in office, according to the results of a survey conducted by Church-run Radyo Veritas.

In a statement, Radyo Veritas said it conducted a text-based and online survey participated in by 1,200 respondents nationwide from Sept. 18 to Oct. 6, where they were asked to rate Marcos’ performance in his first 100 days in office.

The survey showed that 300 or 25 percent of the respondents said Marcos’ first 100 days was “good,” 264 or 22 percent said it was “poor,” 252 or 21 percent said it was “fair,” 156 or 13 percent said it was “excellent” and 132 or 11 percent said “very good.”

At least 96 or eight percent of the respondents were undecided.

“While the first-100-day milestone in office is mostly considered as a ‘honeymoon stage,’ the early days of a presidency can be an optimal time for new presidents to make immense advances in their political agenda,” Radyo Veritas president Fr. Anton Pascual said.

Pascual added that he understands the outcome of the survey as he emphasized that “a new president is usually still popular with the public” and the lawmakers are still cooperative with the new leader.

The public’s perception of Marcos’ first 100 days will be an effective tool to help guide future efforts of the government, according to the prelate.
