MANILA, Philippines — Outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo personally met the transition team of vice president-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio during their visit to the Office of the Vice President (OVP) in Quezon City yesterday.

Robredo reiterated their commitment to offer assistance and guidance to the team of the incoming vice president to ensure a smooth transition.

OVP officials led by Robredo’s chief of staff Undersecretary Philip Dy gave Duterte-Carpio’s transition team a tour of the Quezon City Reception House, where the Vice President held office over the past six years, and the nearby Ben-Lor building that houses the OVP’s administrative units.

The visit happened after the transition teams held an initial meeting via Zoom last Wednesday.

It remains unclear if Robredo and Duterte-Carpio will meet before the start of the term of the new administration on June 30.

Earlier, Robredo’s spokesman Barry Gutierrez said that the Vice President is “more than happy” to meet with Duterte-Carpio should the latter request for a meeting.

“There was actually a private meeting with VP Leni and then outgoing vice president Jejomar Binay. And VP Leni was obviously very grateful for the kindness and the generosity of VP Binay in the advice that he gave her during the meeting,” he said in an interview on May 31.

Duterte-Carpio, who will also concurrently serve as education secretary of the incoming administration, intends to hold her inauguration in Davao City on June 19.

Her team has yet to release details of her plans, including where she will hold office and which programs of the OVP she will retain, if any.
