Historic 2020/21 Bar exams results out on April 12
MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court will release the results of its historic digitalized and localized 2020/21 Bar exams on April 12.
Associate Justice Marvic Leonen, 2020/21 Bar chairperson, said the SC will release the results next week.

On Tuesday, the SC Public Information office said Leonen has asked the court to hold a special en banc session on April 12 for the consideration of his report on the Bar Examinations and the release of its results.
Oath-taking of the country’s new lawyers is set on May 2. “The venue, time and other details of the oath-taking shall be announced later,” the SC Public Information Office added.
Exam during pandemic
If the results will be announced on April 12, this means that it only took less than two months to release the names of passers.
The historic 2020/21 Bar exams — the first digital and localized test — were taken in the extraordinary circumstances due to the pandemic were held on February 4 and 6, with shortened coverage and duration of test period.
While the SC has yet to give official figures of those who finished the test, Leonen said 11,378 examinees took the exams on April 4 at 31 testing sites scattered in 22 local government units across the country.
But despite the excellent turnout of examinees, Leonen announced in a later bulletin that “a number of examinees” violated the policies of the Office of the Bar Chairperson and their Honor Code. These examinees will be disqualified from the 2020/21 Bar examinations.
Leonen, however, made it clear that the disqualification only applies for the 2020/21 Bar exams.
Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa is set to takeover the 2022 Bar examinations.
Although still without a month on when it will be held, Caguioa said in a Bar Bulletin that it will be taken on four non-consecutive days, within a two-week period. A separate bulletin will also be announced for the venue or venues of the test.
The 2022 Bar exam will cover eight subjects and will adopt a three-examiner policy, Caguioa said.
Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo earlier said the SC will continue the digitalized format in future Bar exams to “sustain the momentum of this digital shift.”
