MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte and his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, posted losses in the latest survey by private pollster Pulse Asia, but the presidential daughter still emerged as Filipinos’ top pick for the presidency.

Preference for Duterte-Carpio to run for president dropped by eight points to 20% in the survey conducted from September 6 to 11, while preference for Duterte to run for vice president decreased by four points to 14%.

Duterte-Carpio, however, still leads the pack of potential presidential candidates, ahead of former Sen. Bongbong Marcos by five points.

This is despite Duterte-Carpio categorically stating that she would not run for president as her father is running for vice president, in keeping with a supposed agreement among the Dutertes that only one of them would run for a national post.

The president, meanwhile, slumped to second place in the vice presidential poll as Senate President Tito Sotto III blazed to the top spot with an 11-point lead. Sotto’s ranking was helped by a massive 15-point increase in voter preference.

Among those who have declared that they will run for president, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso leads with 15% of Filipinos saying that they will vote him to Malacañang, followed by Sen. Manny Pacquiao with 12%, while Sen. Ping Lacson trailed behind with 6%.

Other choices for president are Sen. Grace Poe (9%), Vice President Leni Robredo (8%), Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano (4%), Sen. Bong Go (3%), former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV (1%), former Akbayan Rep. Walden Bello (0.1%) and former Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro (0.1%).

Among the people who have declared that they will run for vice president, only cardiologist Willie Ong, Domagoso’s running mate, did not appear in the survey.

Other choices for vice president are Domagoso (12%), Marcos (12%), Pacquiao (7%), Go (7%), Cayetano (6%), TV host Willie Revillame (4%), Trillanes (2%), Sen. Sonny Angara (2%), Public Works Secretary Mark Villar (2%), lawyer Chel Diokno (1%) and Teodoro (0.5%).

Meanwhile, broadcaster Raffy Tulfo, who Lacson said has been in talks with their camp on a possible Senate bid, topped the list of potential senatorial candidates, with 55.2% of Filipinos saying that they will vote for him.

He is followed by Cayetano, Sorsogon Gov. Chiz Escudero, Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda, Domagoso, Pacquiao, Lacson, Marcos, Revillame, Villar, former Vice President Jejomar Binay, former Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, former Sen. Bam Aquino, Senate Majority Leader Migz Zubiri and former Sen. Kiko Pangilinan.
