MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang yesterday defended its decision to kick off a campaign on the legacy of President Duterte, saying the administration has achieved much in the last three years compared to its predecessors.

The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) launched last Friday the “Duterte Legacy,” a communication campaign that seeks to highlight the administration’s  landmark programs and projects. The forum tackled updates on government programs like “Build, Build, Build,” universal health care, freedom of information and the war on drugs.

Last Saturday, Sen. Panfilo Lacson said it was too early to present Duterte’s legacy, noting that the President has only been in office for three years. He said while the administration is “entitled to its own propaganda,” many things can still happen during the President’s term.

But presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo believes it was not too early to present Duterte’s achievements.

“We are highlighting (the achievements) because the accomplishments of President Duterte are exceptional in three years’ time, compared to the previous administrations,” Panelo said in a radio interview.
