MANILA, Philippines — Double pay awaits workers who will report for work today, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said.

DOLE said Aug. 12 has been declared a regular holiday, which means employees of private companies who choose to work today are entitled to additional pay.

In observance of Eid’l Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice, Malacañang earlier declared Aug. 12 as a regular holiday.

Under existing rules, DOLE said workers shall be paid 200 percent or double their regular daily pay for the first eight hours of work during regular holidays.

For work done in excess of eight hours during regular holidays, workers shall be paid an additional 30 percent of their hourly rate.

If the holiday falls on an employee’s rest day but who still opted to report for work, the employee shall receive an additional 30 percent on top of the 200 percent for the first eight hours.

For services in excess of eight hours during the regular holiday that falls on a rest day, the worker shall be paid another 30 percent of the hourly rate.
