Animation voice talent promotes Hundred Islands

ALAMINOS CITY, Pangasinan, Philippines — The voice behind the twin panda characters in the popular British pre-school animated series “Peppa Pig” wants to help promote the Hundred Islands National Park (HINP) in her home city here to boost its tourism potentials.

Eight-year-old Chelsy Orfinada, who studies in a private school in London, is the voice behind twin pandas Pegi and Pandora. She made her debut in her role as a voice actress when the series began airing in February

Even at her young age, Chelsy wants to do her share in promoting the Hundred Islands National Park where she recently did some recordings that would be shown in her popular vlog Little Lady C to entice more tourists – especially children – to come to the nature park.

Chelsy’s parents are Tots Orfinada and Karen Jane Pajarillo-Orfinada, both from this city. She is their only child.

Karen and Chelsy are both born in London. Chelsy has been to the Philippines a few times and it’s the Hundred Islands that she wants to visit again and again. Karen said Chelsy now has enough experience and appreciation of Hundred Islands to be its young ambassadress.

Mother and daughter filmed a few shots in Hundred Islands for Chelsy’s vlog which has 5,000 subscribers on YouTube. They went to Quezon, Governor’s, Children’s and Pilgrimage Islands. 

What Chelsy enjoyed most was her island-to-island zipline – her first – according to her mother. “She just loved it,” she said.

Chelsy told The STAR she would like her followers to realize that Hundred Islands is really a fun place, and the place to be for nature lovers.

She said she would like to encourage children like her to visit the place with their family.

She said she is proud her parents are from Pangasinan.

Peppa Pig has more than 8.7 million subscribers worldwide. Chelsy, who does the voice over for the twin pandas Pegi and Pandora, was among thousands who auditioned for the role.

She had done some photo shoots for a commercial but being part of Peppa Pig is Chelsy’s biggest role so far, Karen said. “It was such a bright opportunity for her,” she added.

Recently she auditioned for another animation, but she’s still waiting for the results, her mother said.
