MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte has appointed retired police regional director Cedrick Train to a post at the Department of Transportation, Malacañang said yesterday.
Malacañang issued the appointment order of Train to report to the Office of Transportation Security to replace Miguel Fernando Oraa as Director IV.
Duterte signed the order last March 6.
A top graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy Class 1984, his colleagues cited Train’s high standards in the police service, having last served as regional director in General Santos City.
Train is reportedly close to Davao Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, sources said.
A lawyer, he is a relative of police Supt. Raymund Train, who led the 38-member assault team of police Special Action Force in the killing of Malaysian bomber Zulkifli bin Hir alias Marwan and his Filipino cohort in 2016 in what is now known as the infamous Mamasapano massacre.
