MANILA, Philippines (Update 1 1:04 p.m.) — The state weather bureau on Sunday said Tropical Depression Amang slightly accelerated as it moves toward Caraga.
At 10 a.m., "Amang" was estimated at 165 kilometers east-northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur or 280 km east-southeast of Surigao City, Surigao, PAGASA said in its 11 a.m. severe weather bulletin.
"Amang" packs maximum sustained winds of 45 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kph. It is expected to move west-northwest at 30 kph.

PAGASA advised fisherfolk and those with small seacraft not to venture out over the seaboards areas under Signal No. 1 as well as the northern seaboard of northern Luzon, and eastern seaboards of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao due to the approaching tropical depression and the surge of the northeast monsoon.
The state weather agency also reiterated that "Amang" is still expected to make landfall over Surigao del Norte mainland-Siargao Islands between Sunday afternoon and evening.
PAGASA also said moderate to heavy rains would prevail over Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Compostela Valley, Davao Oriental, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Bicol, southern Quezon, Marinduque and Romblon on Sunday. These rains would continue over the Visayas, Bicol, southern Quezon, Marinduque and Romblon on Monday.
Meanwhile, Albay, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, Masbate, Eastern Visayas, and Central Visayas will experience moderate to heavy rains on Tuesday.
