Palace on Trillanes arrest order: No more drama by presscon
MANILA, Philippines — The Malacañang on Tuesday said it will respect the court's decision to issue of warrant of arrest against Sen. Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV.
“The court has spoken,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said.
“Whatever Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has to say can be addressed to the court. Let us stop the drama by presscon and allow the legal process to take its course,” he added.
On September 4, President Rodrigo Duterte revoked the amnesty granted to his Trillanes in 2011, through Proclamation 572. This was in relation to his involvement in mutinies against the administration of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in 2003, 2006 and 2007.
The amnesty was granted by President Benigno Aquino III through Proclamation 75, which Congress concurred in.
Duterte claimed that Trillanes "did not comply with the minimum requirements to qualify under the Amnesty Proclamation."
Three weeks later, Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150 Judge Elmo Alameda ordered Trillanes' arrest on Tuesday, granting the motion of the Department of Justice.

On Tuesday, Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III said that Trillanes has already told them that if a warrant will be issued he will face it.
While the Makati RTC issued an arrest warrant against Trillanes, the senator was presiding over a committee on social justice as vice chair.
The senator has been staying at the Senate premises since Proclamation 572 was published on September 4.
He said he would stay until all cases over his amnesty are resolved.
