Consultative committee to submit draft constitution before SONA
MANILA, Philippines — The consultative committee formed to study amendments to the 1987 Constitution is on track to submit its adopted draft before President Rodrigo Duterte delivers his third State of the Nation Address next month.
The 25-member committee tasked to draft a new constitution is set to submit a draft on July 9, the STAR reported Thursday.
According to the ConCom, three articles — federated regions, transitory provisions and amendments— are left to be finalized until June 14.
"The completed articles are now being refined, edited for style and proofread for consistency," the ConCom said.
After voting on the entire draft constitution next week, the committee will hold regional presentation and consultation in Dumagueta City, Butuan City, Legaspi City, Baguio City and Tacloban City.

Earlier this year, Duterte said that he wants the ConCom to finish its job within the year to allow lawmakers to draw insights from its recommendations.
The Senate and House leaders have earlier clarified that Congress has the final say on charter change and not the ConCom. — Patricia Lourdes Viray
