MANILA, Philippines — The fire that engulfed Waterfront Manila Pavilion Hotel and Casino in Ermita, Manila, which has killed five individuals, has been declared out Monday morning.

The Bureau of Fire Protection made the declaration at 10:56 a.m.—over 24 hours since the fire broke out Sunday morning.

The casualties are identified as Edilberto Evangelista, Marilyn Omadto, Rey de Castro, John Mark Sabido and Jo Cris Banang.

One employee is still in critical condition.

Authorities confirmed that all those who perished are employees of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.

“PAGCOR assured us na wala nang missing sa roster nila, all accounted for. Still, we’re hoping na wala ring naiwan sa rooms. Hindi pa naakyat ng mga bumbero ‘yung loob mismo isa isa,” Jojo Garcia, acting Metropolitan Manila Development Authority general manager, said in a press briefing.

BFP said investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire. It added that the ground floor to the seventh floor of the Manila Pavilion is “totally damaged.”

President Rodrigo Duterte conducted an aerial survey of the burning building Sunday afternoon.
