MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has officially appointed retired Philippine Army commanding general Glorioso Miranda as board member of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority.

Malacañang on Friday released a copy of Miranda’s appointment paper, which Duterte signed on January 9.

Miranda will replace Serafin Salvador Jr. on the board.

The former Philippine Army chief will serve “the unexpired” term of office that began on July 1, 2017 and will end on June 20, 2018.

Duterte first announced Miranda’s new post in his speech during the Army’s change of command and retirement ceremony in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City last October 5.

Miranda, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1983, reached the mandatory retirement age of 56 last October 8.

He is the latest addition to the roster of former military men appointed by Duterte to government positions.

BCDA is a government instrumentality vested with corporate powers under Republic Act 7227.

It engages in public-private partnerships to push forward vital public infrastructure.
