3 arrested for jeepney heist in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines — Three robbers were nabbed shortly after they held up jeepney passengers in Quezon City on Saturday night.

They were John Gerald Oliva, 22; Carl John Pinangay, 18, and Rafael Canton.

Police said the suspects boarded a jeepney along Quezon Avenue in Barangay Paligsahan and declared a heist at around 9 p.m.

The suspects robbed the passengers at knifepoint.

The robbers were able to get three bags of the victims before fleeing toward Timog Avenue.

The victims shouted for help, catching the attention of police officers on patrol that resulted in the suspects’ arrest.

Police said they recovered the loot and three knives from the suspects.

The suspects are being held at the Galas police station on robbery charges.
