Dagoy is new PSG commander

The Philippine Star

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – President Duterte’s senior military adviser, Army Col. Lope Dagoy, will become chief of the Presidential Security Group (PSG), replacing Brig. Gen. Rolando Bautista.

The Palace said the change of command is scheduled today at the PSG grounds in Malacañang Park. The Office of the Executive Secretary confirmed Dagoy’s appointment.

Bautista, who served as Duterte’s PSG chief since he became President, assumed command over the weekend of the Philippine Army’s 1st Infantry Division based in Zamboanga del Sur.

Duterte handpicked Bautista as his first PSG commander, having known the military officer for a long time. Bautista served as Task Force Davao commander when Duterte was mayor of this city.

Dagoy, on the other hand, is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1987 who served as chief of staff of then Armed Forces Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) chief, Lt. Gen. Rey Leonardo Guerrero, and later as deputy brigade commander in Zamboanga del Norte.

He was then assigned as the President’s senior military adviser.

Dagoy was an awardee of the Outstanding Public Officials and Employees in 2010 and a recipient of The Outstanding Philippine Soldiers of the Metrobank Foundation Inc. in 2009.
