Storm signals up in 9 provinces as 'Auring' intensifies slightly
MANILA, Philippines -- Storm signals were raised over more provinces on Saturday afternoon as Tropical Depression "Auring" intensified slightly.
In its 5 p.m. Severe Weather Bulletin, PAGASA said Auring now has maximum winds up to 55 kph and gustiness of up to 70 kph as it continues to move west northwest. It was 185 km east of Hinatuan Surigao del Norte as of 4 p.m.
The state weather bureau said Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 has been raised over:
- Agusan del Sur
- Agusan del Norte
- Surigao del Sur
- Surigao del Norte
- Dinagat Province
- Misamis Oriental
- Camiguin
- Davao del Norte
- Compostela Valley
It said residents of those areas as well as those in the Davao Region and the rest of Northern Mindanao should watch out for flash floods and landslides.
Auring is forecast to make landfall over the Surigao provinces between Sunday evening and early Monday morning. It can bring moderate to heavy rain within its 300-km diameter.
