Yasay on death reports: Worse than HR violations
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines’ top diplomat said reports about his and former president Fidel Ramos death are much worse than human rights violations and extrajudicial killings.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay Jr. also assured the “ghoulish misfits” who wished him dead that they would hear it first from his ghost when that happens.
Yasay said he received a call from a friend in Honolulu regarding a breaking news report that he was rushed to hospital in Manila where he supposedly died.
Yasay said he received the call from a concerned friend moments before Cabinet members part of the official delegation left with President Duterte on a recent visit to Japan.
“He sounded so relieved to hear my voice and thanking God that I was alive and well. Apparently he became frantic and distraught to receive word allegedly from a breaking news report several minutes earlier that I was rushed to a hospital in Manila where I died,” Yasay wrote in a post on Facebook.
He also said receiving several texts from other friends confirming it was a hoax.
Yasay also got word from his daughter-in-law on Saturday that her friends were asking for confirmation that Ramos also died.
“How far the real traitors of the nation will go to destabilize the country by spreading black propaganda is truly scary,” Yasay said. “Ironically, it is much worse than the violation of human rights and extrajudicial killings that they falsely accuse President Duterte of in the war against illegal drugs.”
Their brutality and inhumanity are certainly unmatched, he said.
“Well, to all those ghoulish misfits who wish I were dead, let me assure that you will hear it first from my ghost when that happens…BOO! Happy Halloween,” Yasay remarked.
