MANILA, Philippines - Corrupt government officials face public shaming if they would be accused of asking for grease money in official transactions, President Duterte warned yesterday.
In a meeting with businessmen in Pasay, Duterte said he would use the state-run PTV 4 to shame erring officials or employees.
He asked the business community to support his anti-corruption campaign by sending him text messages of any incident of corruption or extortion by public officials.
“Just do business and I will protect you. If there is anybody who would ask money from you, tell me. Do not give me your name,” Duterte said, adding that businessmen may talk to his Cabinet secretaries or send him text messages.
He said he would give the accused official, including clerks and security guards, a chance to explain.
“I have a special bullet and rifle that cannot penetrate. It is just enough for them to suffer. Let us shoot them,” Duterte said.
