MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday morning flew to Davao City to visit the victims of the night market blast.

Upon her arrival, Robredo first headed to Southern Philippine Medical Center, the nearest hospital where survivors of the night market explosion were confined. She comforted the victims admitted into the hospital.

Robredo then went to wakes at Angel Funeral Homes and Cosmopolitan Memorial Chapel to pay respect to the victims who passed away during the blast. She reportedly vowed to provide assistance to the bereaved families.

The night market blast occurred around 10 p.m. on Friday killing at least 14 people and leaving more than 70 people injured. The vice president, who offered prayers to the victims, on Saturday also called on for the nation's unity in fighting against the scourge of terrorism.

Robredo stayed in Davao City until afternoon and returned to Manila by 2 p.m. She refused to grant media interviews during her visit.
