DAVAO CITY, Philippines – At least three venues are being considered for the inauguration of president-elect Rodrigo Duterte on June 30.
Although Duterte earlier said he would not want his inauguration to be held at the Quirino Grandstand, it is still one of the venues being considered.
The other venues being eyed are the Rizal Ceremonial Hall in Malacañang and the Palace grounds.
The Palace grounds can accommodate more people while the Rizal Ceremonial Hall has a limited capacity.
Duterte said he does not want his inauguration as the 16th president of the country to incur huge expenses and cause traffic jams.
His aides earlier said there would be no extravagant ball or dinner during his assumption into office. Even the meals to be served to guests will be simple.
Among those who will be invited to the inauguration are incoming members of the Cabinet, family members, diplomats and supporters of Duterte.
There is no word yet on who will administer Duterte’s oath-taking on June 30.
