MANILA, Philippines – Love letters will be fragrant this Valentine’s Day with rose-scented stamps from the Phili-ppine Postal Corp. (PhlPost).
PhlPost yesterday released 101,000 pieces of the Valentine’s Day stamps with an image of a single-stem rose.
The special stamps were designed by artist Rodine Teodoro.
PhlPost manager Enrique Tagle said the postal corporation expects the rose-scented stamps to be another hit, especially among philatelists.
“There are a lot of collectors, a lot of people who are waiting for this stamp,” he added.
This is not the first time that PhlPost came up with a scented stamp. In August 2014, PhlPost released scented stamps with an image of late president Corazon Aquino, one of its bestsellers.
Tagle said that the scent of the Cory stamps came from the ink, while the scent of the Valentine’s Day stamps was on the paper.
“While the smell on the ink will last longer, it was decided that for the Valentine’s Day stamp, the scent should be on the paper. The idea is to make it appear more like stationery,” he explained.
