MANILA, Philippines - OFW Party-list Rep. Roy Señeres withdrew from the presidential race, citing his health condition.

According to a report from the STAR, his representatives said that the lawmaker is backing out of the presidential race due to his diabetes.

The Comelec Law Department, however, refused to accept his withdrawal due to his failure to file it personally.

Señeres's physical presence is required if he is going to withdraw his candidacy for president.

The representatives of Señeres will return to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday to submit his withdrawal from the presidential race and his medical certificate.

The name of Señeres was included in the final list of candidates for the May 9 elections which was released by the Comelec earlier.
