MANILA, Philippines – The mother of boxing legend and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao is set to testify next month on the civil case she filed against the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) before the Court of Tax Appeals (CTA).

Dionesia Pacquiao, popularly known as Mommy D, will reportedly testify during the scheduled hearing on March 2 on her petition for review of a BIR tax assessment.

The Pacquiao matriarch is questioning the assessment on her tax liabilities by the BIR Revenue Region No. 18, which is based in Cotabato City and has jurisdiction over the area where she resides.

The BIR earlier confirmed it was looking into the possible tax liabilities of Dionesia.

In an earlier interview, she said the assessment was questionable as she has no job and merely relies on financial support from her son.

The Sarangani lawmaker and his wife Jinkee have also filed a case before the CTA asking for a review of a BIR assessment that they have total tax liabilities of P2.2 billion from the boxer’s winnings. The case is also pending with the tax court.
