‘Hate campaign’ vs Marcoses to intensify – Bongbong

Christina Mendez, Perseus Echeminada - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Vice presidential aspirant Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said he expects the “hate campaign” against his family to intensify this February, which marks the 30th anniversary of the 1986 People Power Revolution that toppled the dictatorial regime of his father and namesake.

“Every year there is a celebration. But we expect this year to be more intensive mainly because I am running for vice president. We are in the election period,” Marcos said.

The senator also admitted that he is still affected by the attacks against the presidency of his father despite the passing of three decades. But he said the Marcos family has learned to live with the yearly celebrations and the constant bashing.

“We are human, of course we get affected but as I’ve said, we have learned to live with it. It’s part of our lives,” he said.

“Wala naman kaming magagawa doon, ganun talaga (We cannot do anything about it, that’s the way it is),” he said.

Marcos said he would be on the campaign trail on Feb. 25, the anniversary of the revolution that took thousands of Filipinos to EDSA in 1986 to fight the dictatorship.
