P3,000 worth of contraceptives available for female PhilHealth members
MANILA, Philippines – Women members of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) can avail themselves of contraceptives from accredited health facilities.
In a circular, PhilHealth announced that it has allocated P3,000 for each member who may want to avail of the subdermal contraceptive implant package.
“The package may be availed of as an outpatient or inpatient service in hospitals and non-hospital facilities with the same case rate,” PhilHealth said.
However, the package can only be availed of once every two years.
PhilHealth said claims made less than the two-year interval shall be denied.
Health experts said subdermal contraceptives can prevent pregnancy for up to three years after these are inserted under the skin of the upper arm.
According to PhilHealth, the allocation is made up of the P1,800 healthcare institution fee and the P1,200 professional fee.
The package also covers consultation and counseling prior to the procedure, performance of the procedure, medicine and supplies, and follow-up and counseling after the procedure.
