Fine weather expected on Christmas Eve

MANILA, Philippines — State weather bureau PAGASA on Thursday said most parts of the country will experience generally good weather on Christmas Eve.

Acting PAGASA Administrator Vincent Manalo said fine weather will prevail in the rest of the country except from isolated thunderstorms in Mindanao based on the weather bureau’s outlook for December 24 and 25.

Manalo said no tropical cyclone is expected to enter the country during the outlook period. There are similarly no weather disturbances expected in the next three to five days and until the weekend.

Despite good weather, Manalo said isolated light rains will still be experienced over the eastern section of Luzon and Visayas due to "amihan."

The northeast monsoon will continue to affect Northern Luzon while the easterlies will affect Eastern Visayas.

"So far the effect of northeast monsoon is concentrated in Northern Luzon but it will also bring cold mornings in some parts of Luzon including Metro Manila and the northeast monsoon usually peaks from early January to mid-February," PAGASA weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said.

The weather bureau said eastern Visayas and the province of Sorsogon will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms while the province of Batanes and the islands of Calayan and Babuyan will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains on Thursday.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms.

PAGASA did not issue any gale warning as light to moderate winds blowing from the east to northeast will prevail in the country and its coastal waters will be slight to moderate. It advised the fisherfolk that it is safe to venture into the seas.
