MANILA, Philippines – The majestic diamond crown of Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach is worth around $300,000, produced by renowned Czech Republic company Diamonds International Corporation.

The crown is made up of 311 pieces of diamonds, five pieces of blue topaz, 198 pieces of blue sapphire, 33 pieces of crystal, and gold. It was designed to emulate the Manhattan skyline.

The Czech embassy in Manila said yesterday it took four months to make the crown. The production process involves the combination of the traditional techniques of Czech glassmakers and the best jewelers, cutters and polishers from the Czech Republic, which is famous for its jewelry production.

The Czech Republic is also famous for its cut crystal, more commonly known as Bohemian Crystal. A testament to their ageless elegance and beauty, large traditional Bohemian Crystal chandeliers are displayed at the Reception Hall of Malacañang, welcoming the guests of the President.

According to Jan Vytopil, chargé d’affaires of the Czech embassy, more modern designs of Bohemian Crystal chandeliers made by Lasvit can also be found in some of the best hotels and residences in Metro Manila, like Raffles, Solaire and the Global Tower.
