MANILA, Philippines - Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno on Friday vowed to rule on election-related cases based on "utmost wisdom" and not on politics.

Sereno admitted that the high court is anticipating a "not so usual" Christmas season due to the urgent election-related petitions.

The chief justice noted that the SC is aware of the Commission on Elections' time frame and that its rulings on the cases will have long-term consequences.

Sereno assured that the SC justices are undertaking preliminary research as preparations for the cases.

Presidential aspirant Sen. Grace Poe is set to take her case before the high court following the rulings of two Comelec divisions to disqualify her from the presidential race.

The high court will also include the case of the "No Bio, No Boto" policy of the Comelec during its special session on December 16.

The constitutionality of the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement between the Philippines and the United States will also be discussed in the special session of the SC.
