MANILA, Philippines – Vice Presidential candidate Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos on Monday said his president is running mate Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago.
Marcos made the clarification following reports that he might vote for presidential aspirant Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte in the 2016 presidential polls.
”Of course not, I will vote for my president; Sen. Miriam is my president,” Marcos said at the “Kapihan sa Manila Hotel.”
Aside from Duterte, Marcos was also linked with other presidential candidates like Vice President Jejomar Binay.
Marcos earlier said he is in a “loose coalition” with Santiago, agreeing on many issues and concerns.
He admitted that he earlier sought the support and endorsement from his friend Duterte. However, he said the situation changed when the mayor decided to run for presidency.
On November 29, Duterte announced that his vice presidential bet is Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano.
Meanwhile, former president and Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, seeking re-election as Manila mayor, said he would run for president if Sen. Grace Poe and Binay were disqualified. He said he wanted Marcos to be his vice president.
