UP College of Law still best law school in Philippines – LEB
MANILA, Philippines - The University of the Philippines College of Law is still the best law school in the country, according to the Legal Education Board (LEB).
In ceremonies held in Intramuros, Manila last Tuesday, the LEB recognized the UP law school as number one in its ranking of top performing law schools.
The latest ranking, certified by the Office of the Bar Confidant of the Supreme Court, was based on cumulative performance of law schools in the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Bar examinations.
The LEB, which supervises all law schools and continuing legal education providers in the country, said only law schools which had at least 20 examinees in the Bar exams were considered in the list.
UP law school got a passing average of 73.71 percent.
The Ateneo de Manila University Law School placed second with an average of 67.55 percent, while San Beda College-Manila ranked third with an average of 67.13 percent.
In fourth place is University of San Carlos in Cebu with 58 percent, followed by Ateneo de Davao University with 53. 02 percent and University of Santo Tomas with 43.98 percent.
University of Cebu placed seventh with 41.49 percent, while San Beda College-Alabang ranked eighth with 39.10 percent.
Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and Xavier University completed the list in ninth and 10th places, respectively, with 35.80 percent and 32.20 percent.
The 2015 Bar exams concluded last Sunday.
