Malaysian PM returns to Manila for APEC

MANILA, Philippines – Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak on Tuesday afternoon returned to the Philippines anew to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit slated on Wednesday.

Najib, the sixth Prime Minister of Malaysia arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 accompanied by his wife Rosmah Mansor. Najib also went to the country on Oct. 15, 2012 for a state visit and on March 27, 2014 to witness the Bangsamoro deal signing.

He was welcomed by Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Secretary Teresita Deles and Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Jose Angel Honrado, among others, at the airport.

Najib will attend the APEC Leaders’ Meeting but he is not assigned to conduct any speech.

He was sworn to the position on April 3, 2009 to succeed Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. Najib’s uncle, Huseinn Onn was the third prime minister of Malaysia. 

After the APEC week, Malaysia will host the East Asia Summit to be held in Kuala Lumpur next week.
