PhlPost releases first cartoon-style sticker stamp

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Postal Corp. (PhlPost) has released its first ever cartoon-style sticker stamp as part of the observance of the National Stamp Collecting Month.

Enrique Tagle, PhlPost marketing management and support services manager, said they issued a sheetlet with four designs of sticker stamps – a cartoon image of a boy, a teenage boy, a teenage girl and an adult male showing their interests in stamps.

“Through these images, we want to convey the message that stamp collection is for everyone. We are moving out of the stereotype that only senior citizens or the Filipino-Chinese collectors are the ones who collect stamps. We are encouraging people of all ages to collect stamps,” Tagle said.

PhlPost postmaster general Josefina de la Cruz said the release of the special limited edition sticker stamps was part of celebration of the National Stamp Collecting Month this November.

“We hope to bring out the philatelist in the young by coming out with exhibits, caravans and organizing kiddie stampers organizations in different schools,” she said.

The four-design sticker stamp is sold at P60.

PhlPost printed about 30,000 sheets of the stamps, which are now available at the post shop, Central Post Office, Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila and other post offices nationwide.
