DND to spend P449 M for ammunition, explosives
MANILA, Philippines - The Department of National Defense (DND) will spend P449.4 million to buy ammunition, explosives and magazine assembly to boost the Army’s security capabilities.
DND Assistant Secretary Ernesto Boac signed the invitation to bid for the project, divided into three items: purchase of 32,260 rounds of 40mm explosive cartridge (P70 million), procurement of 11.3 million rounds of 5.56mm ball cartridge (P320 million) and acquisition of 118,400 rounds of magazine assembly for M16 rifles (P59 million).
The deadline for submission of bids will be on Nov. 9. Submitted bids will also be opened on that day. A complete set of bidding documents may be bought from the bids and awards committee secretariat for P50,000. Late bids and those that exceed the approved budget will be rejected.
The bidding is open to local and foreign suppliers subject to the eligibility conditions set by the procurement law. To be qualified, bidders should have completed within the last five years from the date of submission and receipt of bids a similar contract.
The company that offers the lowest bid and satisfies all documentary requirements will proceed to the post-qualification phase, which allows DND to determine if the offer is responsive to the needs of the project end-user.
The winning bidder is required to deliver the items within 180 calendar days from the receipt of notice to proceed issued by the DND secretary.
