Pangasinan in state of calamity

DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines – Pangasinan has been placed under a state of calamity following widespread flooding and devastation from Typhoon Lando.

In Pampanga, three towns were also placed under a state of calamity due to massive flooding from Aurora and Nueva Ecija.

Pangasinan was placed under a state of calamity by its provincial council with the cities of Dagupan, Alaminos, Urdaneta and San Carlos separately declaring a state of calamity due to massive flooding.

At least 39 barangays in Alaminos are still under water.

Some 3,000 families were displaced by the floods in Dagupan City.

Pampanga Gov. Lilia Pineda said the provincial council has declared the towns of San Luis, Arayat and Candaba under a state of calamity since most of their barangays were submerged in two to five feet of floodwaters.

Tuguegarao City in Cagayan province was also placed under a state of calamity with some P32 million worth of crops damaged by the typhoon.

Officials said 34 of 49 barangays in the city are still submerged in floodwaters as of yesterday.

Some 7,500 families or 37,000 persons have been displaced by the floods.

The regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in Central Luzon reported the total number of flooded barangays at 257, with 24 in Bulacan, 152 in Nueva Ecija and Pampanga with 81.

The number of affected families totaled 93,184 or 442,840 persons in 667 villages from the provinces of Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales.
