Almost 4,000 families in evacuation centers
MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Social Welfare and Development on Sunday said over 16,000 people have been affected by Typhoon Lando (international name Koppu), 3,805 of which are in evacuation centers.
"Typhoon Lando has affected a total of 4,051 families or 16,351 persons from Regions I, II,III, IV-A, V and the Cordillera Administrative Region," DSWD said.
About 15,240 persons are inside 109 evacuation centers managed by the local government units (LGUs), DSWD added.
The state agency said 286 families or 1,442 people are outside evacuation centers but are being served.
DSWD said a total of P398,520 worth of disaster assistance have been provided by the LGUs of Regions I, II, III, and V to the affected families.
The state agency also has P10.4 million in standby funds, 120,383 family food packs and P117.88 million worth of food and non-food items readily available at its field offices in regions affected by the typhoon.
DSWD Secretary Corazon "Dinky" Soliman said the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council through the DSWD is ready to help LGUs to ensure that the needs of affected families are immediately addressed.
