KBL to support Miriam, Bongbong in 2016

MANILA, Philippines - The Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL) yesterday announced its support for Sen. Miriam Santiago and Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. as presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2016 election.

Lawyer Vicente Millora, KBL president, said although Santiago has her own political party, the KBL party machinery would be mobilized to support the Santiago and Marcos tandem.

He said as KBL president he has issued a certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA) to local candidates from congressmen down to town mayors and vice mayors across the country.

“In our initial inventory, we have already 60 congressional candidates of our local candidates from Batanes to Mindanao,” he said.

Millora said they received feelers from independent gubernatorial and other local candidates who filed their certificate of candidacy to join KBL and he assured them they would be issued CONAs before the final list of candidates comes out in December.

He said the final list of KBL candidates would be submitted to former first lady Imelda Marcos, KBL chairperson.

Millora added that the KBL would adopt senatorial candidates to complete the list of party candidates from president down to municipal mayors.

The late President Ferdinand Marcos founded the KBL, one of the oldest parties in the country, in 1978.
